Jonathan Hunt

Jonathan Hunt is the Vice President-Assistant Business Representative of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) 757, where he uses his talents and skills to negotiate the wages, benefits and working conditions of the Union Members.

Jonathan Hunt grew up in a Union household.  His father was a transit worker at TriMet for 20+ years and an ATU Executive Board Officer for over 8 years before retiring. Jonathan believes strongly in fighting for workers rights.  He supports the Labor Movement and believes the transit workers in the state of Oregon and Washington deserve a living wage, an issue that is at the forefront every day.

Jonathan served as a noncommissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad and started his career with TriMet as a mini-run bus operator in August of ’95; almost 21 years ago.

While in TriMet maintenance, he became a Shop Steward and an Executive Board Officer; a position he held for two years. He became a Maintenance Helper, completed the Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship Program, and was a Journeyman Mechanic for three years before being elected as Vice President-Assistant Business Representative in August 2002.

In August 2003 Jonathan Hunt received a certificate of graduation from the University of Oregon Labor and Education Research Center. Jonathan was re-elected for Vice President-Assistant Business Representative in 2003, serving two terms. In 2006 he was elected as President Business Representative, serving two full terms.
